***August 5th update: Amex card holders can get first dibs for tickets for Van Morrison’s show in Toronto but be prepared for sticker shock. Prices range from $95 to (gulp) $325. The presale runs from today through Sunday. Click here for ticket info.
Handful of concert updates to share with you today:
According to Pollstar.com, the legendary Van Morrison will be playing Toronto’s Massey Hall on September 30th and Montreal’s Salle Wilfrid Pelletier on October 1st. Neither website has any ticket info posted yet so prices and on-sale dates are TBC. But keep checking those sites because Pollstar usually has this info bang on.
Also coming to town according to Pollstar, but not yet officially confirmed by the venue: Steve Martin. He’s touring in support of his bluegrass album, The Crow: New Songs for the Five String Banjo. He’s schduled to hit Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall on October 15th.
Also hitting the road is one of my favourite lead vocalists of all time: Roger Daltrey. While Pete Townshend tries to figure out what’s next for The Who, Roger has decided keep his vocal chords in shape for a run of shows dubbed the “Use It Or Lose It” tour that launches October 10th in Vancouver and hits Casino Rama north of Toronto on November 5th. Look forward to an evening of Who classics, music from Roger’s solo career and selected cover songs. Backed by a band featuring Pete Townshend’s brother Simon on guitar, it should be a great show. No word yet on when tickets go on sale for Casino Rama.
Finally, as mentioned in a previous post, Living Colour have a new album coning in September and are hitting the road in support of said release. If you want a taste of what the new album will sound like, you can listen to the track “Behind The Sun” right here. Just scroll down to the header that reads “LIVING COLOUR Announce North American Tour ” and you’ll see the link to download the free MP3. I for one like it.
So until these bands come to town…
